Build Your First Useful AI Agent in Minutes
Level 1 of the learning path. You don’t need code, connectors, or a plan. You need one task.
1. Pick one recurring task
Good first tasks are frequent, annoying, and low risk:
- Prep for a meeting with someone new
- Summarize a long article or report
- Turn rough notes into a clean recap
Avoid anything that sends, buys, or touches confidential data for now.
2. Create the agent
Any of these works. Verify before publishing: menu names change often.
- Grok Bot: create a new Bot and give it a name and job. See how to use Grok Bot.
- Claude: create a Project and add instructions. See Claude Projects.
- ChatGPT: create a custom GPT.
3. Paste these instructions
You are my Meeting Prep agent.
When I give you a person and company, research public sources only.
Return: who they are (2 lines), company news from the last 90 days,
3 smart questions for me to ask, and 1 risk to watch.
Under 200 words. Cite sources. If you're unsure, say so.
4. Test it on something real
Use next week’s actual meeting. Check every fact it gives you against the cited sources.
5. Fix one thing, then repeat
Change the one instruction behind the biggest miss. More on that in how to write agent instructions.
Next: give the agent a schedule and an inbox in Level 2.
Try this as a ready-made Grok Bot template
- GTM Account Research: researches one account before a meeting, deal review, or account plan.
Templates are community and Grok Bot team Bots in the official Marketplace. Review a template’s plugins and instructions before adding it. Verify links before publishing.
