Getting started with AI agents

A chatbot answers questions. An agent can take steps for you — read, draft, organize, follow up — using tools you connect and rules you set.

Five steps to your first useful agent

  1. Pick one repetitive task. Choose a task you do every week that is mostly reading, summarizing, or drafting, such as meeting prep or follow-up emails.
  2. Choose one tool. Start with one assistant. Learn it well before adding others.
  3. Give clear context. Tell the assistant who you are, what good output looks like, and what it must never do.
  4. Keep a human review step. Review drafts before anything is sent, posted, or deleted.
  5. Save what works as a template. Turn prompts that work into reusable templates or instructions.
