How to Set Up a Claude Project for Recurring Work
Verify before publishing: menu names, plan availability, and file limits for Projects change over time. Confirm against Anthropic’s current help docs and update the “last tested” date.
Short answer: a Claude Project is a workspace that holds custom instructions and reference files, so every chat in it starts with the same context.
When to use a project
Use one for any job you repeat: weekly reports, meeting prep, proposal drafting, or customer FAQs.
Steps
- Create a project for one recurring job (e.g., “Customer Meeting Prep”).
- Add instructions using the five-part structure.
- Upload reference files — only ones your company allows in this tool. See Enterprise-Safe AI.
- Start chats inside the project. Each new chat inherits the setup.
- Refine. When output misses, update the instructions instead of correcting each chat.
Good first projects
- Meeting prep briefs
- Weekly status update drafts
- A writing-style editor trained on your past posts
