Build an AI Morning Brief That's Ready Before Your First Meeting
Level 2 of the learning path. A morning brief is the best second agent: it runs every day, so you find its flaws fast.
What goes in a good brief
- Today’s meetings: time, who, and a one-line purpose
- Up to five emails that need a reply today, and why
- Follow-ups you promised that are now overdue
- Calendar conflicts in the next two days
Set it up in Grok Bot
- Connect your calendar and email from Connect apps. Verify before publishing: plugin names and permission options.
- Paste the instructions from the Morning Brief template.
- Ask for a routine: “Run this every weekday at 7:00 AM and send me the result here.” Grok Bot supports scheduled routines. After you save one, the Bot sums up what it does and who receives the result.
- Optional: have newsletters and reports go to your Bot’s own email address and add a “What came in overnight” section.
Guardrails
- Read-only where possible. The brief reads; it doesn’t act.
- Drafts only. If it suggests a reply, it drafts it for you to review.
- Keep confidential details out if the brief goes to a shared channel.
Make it better each week
Every morning, mark one miss. On Friday, fix the instruction behind the biggest one. After two weeks, it will feel like it was built for you, because it was.
Next: once the brief is solid, make it the core of an AI chief of staff.
